Why does dahtmaco focus on educating children, mentoring, developing and health rights of teenage mothers

1. First, our commitment is rooted in our personal passion to advance children and teenage mothers in the world.

2. In benin city edo state is among the states in Nigeria with a increasing school drop outs, discrimination among children with disabilities yet education is a universal right and it is also a matter of justice.

3. We find out that teenage mothers in benin city edo state are faced with alot of challenges like the increasing risks of child mortality, maternal mortality, un employment, poverty and disempowered. yet our commitment is that disempowered teenage mothers become empowered to contribute economically, intellectually, academically,and emotionally in our communities, country and the world.

4. Lastly children deserve equal training and teenage mothers deserve equal opportunities.

Education.

Is very important , if a girl marries young it’s dangerous . her life can be completely interrupted . she is likely to be less educated and with more complications and risks. we are working to make sure teaching and learning is designed to build peace and support teenage mothers. we serve all targeted teen mothers, Not deny services based on a person’s Race, Disability, Religion / Culture .

Programs

We have three programs for teen mothers, that offer various services to help them succeed as young parents.  Whether they are looking for individual assistance or group support., Because pregnancy and babies don’t come with an instruction book, it is absolutely normal to have a lot of questions.

It is our hope that our young mothers learn critical life skills necessary to build a beautiful future.

By participating in this program above, our teen mothers receive training in the following functional areas:

• Pregnancy prevention
• Developmental stages
• Anger management
• Discipline
• Communication
• Money management
• Household management
• Health
• Community resources

2.Teen mother´s empowerment

This program is to empower teenage mothers by giving them life skills training and an opportunity to go back to school, thus giving them their lives back and economically empowering them.

Employment preparedness

Accelerated Learning, Peer Education, Hairdressing, Cookery and Tailoring training. Our assessment has found that these community programmes have an immediate impact. This will provide for their incomes and provide for their children and the community as a whole.  

3. Hygiene and alimentation program for teen mothers and children.

Any of the following items are gratefully accepted:

• Diapers & wipes
• ALL personal hygiene products ( sanitary pads, toiletries, laundry detergent for Mom, & Baby
• Bottles, pacifiers, sippy cups
• first aid kits & emergency kits
• Infant Formula, snacks, juice boxes
• Baby equipment (used) MUST be cleaned & up to date,swings, strollers
• New or gently used, washed, stain free Maternity , clothing, all sizes for babies , children and teen mothers.
• Mattresses for both teen mothers and children.
