Hellen Namuli is a Ugandan-born women’s rights advocate, intercultural mediator, and humanitarian leader working at the intersection of gender equality, migration, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and the prevention of gender-based violence. Based in Spain, she has extensive experience supporting migrant and refugee communities and advancing the rights of women and girls through advocacy, community engagement, and survivor-centred approaches.
She is the President of the Desmond and Hellen Teenage Mother and Childcare Organization (DAHTMACO), where she leads initiatives that promote the empowerment of teenage mothers, the protection of vulnerable children, and the social and economic inclusion of women and young people. Through partnerships with communities and stakeholders, she supports programmes that strengthen access to education, health information, leadership opportunities, and sustainable livelihoods.
Professionally, Hellen serves as an Intercultural Mediator specialising in sexual and reproductive health, facilitating access to healthcare, social services, and legal protection for migrant populations. Her work includes supporting survivors of gender-based violence and female genital mutilation (FGM), promoting culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and rights-based services that place the needs and voices of survivors at the centre of interventions.
Hellen is a Senior Ambassador of the End FGM European Network (2025–2027), contributing to regional efforts to end female genital mutilation through advocacy, awareness-raising, community mobilisation, and policy engagement. She works collaboratively with civil society organisations, healthcare professionals, public institutions, and community leaders to strengthen prevention efforts and promote the health, rights, and dignity of women and girls.
Her expertise includes intercultural mediation, safeguarding, gender equality, community engagement, public speaking, programme development, and partnership building. Through her work, Hellen contributes to advancing the principles of human rights, social inclusion, and women’s leadership, while supporting progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those relating to gender equality, health, reduced inequalities, and peaceful and inclusive societies.
